Dr Victor Chia originally hails from Singapore and came to Adelaide for tertiary studies. He graduated from University of Adelaide in 2009 after which he completed internship at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in South Australia. He subsequently worked at Flinders Medical Centre as a Basic Physician Trainee before undertaking Cardiology Advanced Training at the Lyell McEwin Hospital in South Australia.
He has previously completed a Clinical Fellowship in Echocardiography at Flinders Medical Centre and is proficient in all forms of Echocardiography including stress echocardiograms and transoesophageal echocardiograms. His is also keen on expanding his skillset in multi-modality imaging and is in the process of obtaining Level A accreditation in CT Coronary Angiography (CTCA).
He is currently employed at the Lyell McEwin Hospital as a Consultant Cardiologist and is currently undertaking research in the application of advanced Echocardiography in the early detection of obstructive coronary artery disease. He practises privately at Elizabeth Vale and holds admitting rights at Calvary Adelaide Hospital. He is also actively involved as a clinical tutor for medical students.
Dr Chia’s expertise extends beyond general cardiology and he has a special interest in the management of ischaemic heart disease, valvular heart disease and heart failure. He believes in providing patient focused care and is dedicated in his profession. He regularly attends state based and international conferences to keep himself up to date with the latest in evidence based practice for Cardiology. In his free time, he enjoys playing badminton and spending quality time with his family.
